The Eshman Law Firm: An Introduction

“If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” -Steve Jobs

My vision for The Eshman Law Firm began in a living room in October nearly 6 years ago. There, I met a young, Mexican family of 3 – a mother, father, and their only child, a 5-year-old boy. The boy was propped-up on a sofa, unable to sit-up on his own. Seven months earlier he had suffered a severe, brain injury caused by medical errors during a routine appendectomy. I had been chosen to meet with the family as the representative of my law firm at that time because I speak Spanish. The meeting was a turning-point in both my life and legal career.

To that point in my legal career, I had worked as a civil defense attorney, representing people and businesses when they were sued and accused of negligently injuring and/or killing someone. I studied and learned the applicable law and legal defenses and how to litigate and resolve cases, through motions, mediations, trials, and appeals. But I had never before sat with a family that was suffering unimaginable anguish, confusion, and anger and been the person responsible for guiding them through the complexities, obstacles, and biases encountered in civil litigation. After years of litigation, a couple of failed mediations, and more than one insinuation that the child’s injuries and life would be worth less to a jury because he was Hispanic, we were able to reach a resolution for the child and his family one week before trial that should ensure that he is taken care of for the remainder of his life. I knew, then, with certainty, that I would start my own law firm that was dedicated to helping people like that family.

On October 9th last year, I founded The Eshman Law Firm – a bilingual trial law firm focused exclusively on the representation of people harmed by the negligence of others. In 9 months, the firm has recovered more than $7.5M on behalf of injured clients and their families, to help ease their burdens. Each new client reinforces the vision for what this firm is and will be, a trusted guide and advocate for people and families who have suffered loss as the result of the negligence of others.
